Choose the activity, go through each critical check with your team, and tick only what is genuinely in place. One missing control means no-go.
Every job
This check confirms the critical controls for the activity. It does not replace your permit to work, risk assessment or site procedures. Keep checking as the job progresses, and stop if anything changes.
Frequently asked questions
What is a go / no-go check?
A go / no-go check is a short list of critical controls that must all be in place before a high-risk task starts. If any one of them is missing, the answer is no-go: stop, fix it, and check again. It is a final confirmation, not a replacement for the permit or risk assessment.
Who should complete the check?
The person or team about to do the work, ideally together with their supervisor or permit holder. Doing it as a team means everyone hears the same checks and anyone can say that something is not in place.
Does a go result mean the job is safe?
No. It means the critical controls for that activity have been confirmed. Conditions change during a job, so keep checking, and stop if anything changes or does not look right.
